Pregnant Women Should Consider Compression Stockings

Q: I will be flying to Florida for spring break and I will be about 25 weeks pregnant. My friend said I should wear compression stockings. Aren’t those for old ladies? There is still a misconception that compression stockings are thick, white hose for grandmas. This is no longer the case at all. They now come in a variety of colors and styles that look just like pantyhose or knee highs. Some even are open toe and can be worn with sandals. As far as if should you wear them when you fly, Miranda, I actually recommend everyone wear them when flying, not just pregnant women.
